Do you get frustrated with managing all the Google Docs your students are constantly sharing with you? Are you constantly organizing your “shared with me” section to move student’s work into a folder? Then, make a change that will save you time and frustration. Start to use Google Classroom, today! Either watch the Google Classroom Tutorial 2015, look at the slides presentation or ask your TLC. Perhaps you are already using using Google Classroom. Do you realize you could do more with it? Google Classroom just launched a new feature integrating the Google Classroom and Google Calendar. Check out a brief intro with Jenn Scheffer explaining Google Calendar Integration. (About 3 minutes long). Are there two teachers in your classroom? Or do you have a paraprofessional who needs access to some student’s work? You can add a teacher to your class for them to be able to view and access the information. Check out how to add another teacher into your class. Take advantage of a Google Chrome extension called “Share to Classroom”. (3 minutes). This extension allows you to share assignments, announcements or links during the class. The feature can automatically send out an assignment or link and open it on students chromebooks. This will be a great time saver and a great way to share information on the fly. Presenting is a great way to meet other educators and show what you know. The topic is up to you. You can showcase a project, show how to use a particular app, software or tool, or showcase websites that would be helpful to teachers. Submitting a proposal is easy and won't take long. The D70 i3 Conference for K-8 Educators will be hosted at Highland Middle School on November 14th, 2015 from 8:30-12:30. It is free for D70 Staff and only $10 (credit card fee applies) for other educators. Mark your calendars! Connecting and learning is a great way to find out how to integrate technology into your classroom.
NICE (Northern Illinois Computer Educators) has regular meetings that provide Professional Development Hours (formerly CPDUs). Most of the meetings and events are free and light dinner or meal is provided.
